Using ideogrammatic codes have advantages because it can communicate to a majority of people world- wide no matter what language they speak because it gives an idea of the message. However, from culture to culture, different symbols will mean different things. Unlike alphabetic codes that may have an exact meaning to a message, ideogrammatic codes only give an idea or concept of a message.

By using and understanding the alphabetic codes of a language, one can formulate words, phrases and sentences to communicate with others who also know and understand these codes. However, unlike ideograms or pictograms which gives some idea of the message, someone who does not understand alphabetic codes, (for example; someone who cannot read or doesn’t know the language of which the alphabetic codes are used) they would not be able to understand the message, and therefore, would not be able to communication to others using these codes.
